This course will explore the history, approaches, and philosophies of agile project management, including the Scrum framework. You will learn how to distinguish and combine agile with other project management methodologies. As you progress, you’ll dive deeper into Scrum, exploring its pillars and values, and comparing the key roles within a Scrum team. The course will teach you how to build, manage, and improve your product backlog, implement an agile value-driven delivery strategy, and define a value roadmap. Additionally, you will discover strategies for effectively organizing the five key Scrum events for your team, introducing an agile or Scrum approach to your organization, and guiding your agile team. Finally, you’ll learn how to identify opportunities in the agile role. This course is designed to provide you with actionable strategies, tools, and resources to help you achieve your goals.

Syllabus
Unit 1: The Fundamentals of Agile
In this unit, you will get a comprehensive introduction to the course and the essential resources to help you get started. You will study the history of Agile applications (Agile) and learn how to distinguish them from traditional approaches. The four values and twelve principles of Agile will be explored, and you will learn how to adopt an agile mindset for application in uncertain environments. Additionally, you will receive an introduction to various Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, XP (Extreme Programming), and Lean. By the end of this unit, you will understand how to combine these approaches for optimal project management outcomes.
Unit 2: Scrum Basics
In this unit, you will be introduced to the Scrum methodology and the three pillars it is based upon. You will also explore the five core values of Scrum. Key roles within Scrum will be reviewed, along with the traits that distinguish an effective Scrum specialist. Additionally, you will understand what makes a Scrum specialist successful, and you will also learn the characteristics of an effective Product Owner and Development Team.
Unit 3: Implementing Scrum
This unit will focus on the practical application of Scrum methodology. You will start by learning how to build product requirements in the backlog, and how to write customer requirements using user stories. You will also learn how to re-assess priorities and expected timelines for requirements. The scope of Scrum methodology during a Sprint will be reviewed, as well as how to plan the scope in the Sprint Planning meeting. You will also learn how to update the scope daily and review progress through daily stand-ups, and conduct a retrospective session to evaluate the scope. Lastly, you will learn how to assess work time and progress reports using Scrum tools, with an emphasis on transparency and collaboration tools that support team success.
Unit 4: Applying Agile in the organization
In this unit, you will explore the application of Agile methodologies within organizations and how to multiply the value added to the work done. The components of a value map will be reviewed, along with how to create an effective value-added map to improve performance. You will also learn how to facilitate change within organizations and how to train and guide Agile teams for successful methodology adoption. The challenges Agile teams face, as well as the challenges involved in training these teams, will be discussed. Finally, you will learn about the evolution of Agile methodologies and how to continuously adapt them to meet the needs of organizations.
